Carter’s Legacy

Strengthing, supporting & providing education to grieving youth, adults and their families.

The Carter Bremseth Memorial Foundation was founded to keep Carter’s memory alive while serving others. In 2021, at only 16 years old, Carter died by suicide. Despite facing difficult medical situations, Carter truly loved his life. He was a dedicated older brother, avid golfer, passionate about God, his friends and his pets. He overcame many challenges in life, only to encounter a situation which made him believe his only option was suicide. After he died, it was discovered that Carter was the victim of Sextortion.

Carter’s death came as a shock to all who knew and loved him. Even though he did not present as “suicidal” as most understand the term; that is still how he died. The stigma surrounding mental health, the fact that our youth are faced with difficult and scary circumstances that they may not always be prepared for (especially as technology and social media continue to impact our lives), put them at risk.

Our foundation is excited to do our part in strengthening the mental health of our communities, especially in our children. We want to provide education and support to adolescents (and their parents) to prevent a tragedy like Carter’s from ever occuring again. We also aim to be a beacon of hope to families who face similar situations.

Carter believed in friendship and community, and we are proud to continue his legacy.
